Trauma therapy is an approach to counseling that helps people work through painful or overwhelming experiences from the past. When we go through something really hard, our minds and bodies sometimes hold on to the stress long after the event is over. That can show up as anxiety, feeling on edge, having flashbacks, trouble sleeping, or even feeling numb or disconnected.
In trauma therapy, we go at your pace. The focus isn’t on forcing you to relive what happened, but on helping you feel safe, calm, and in control again. We’ll work together to understand how past experiences are affecting you now, and I’ll guide you through tools and strategies that can bring relief and healing.
The goal isn’t to erase your past—it’s to help you carry it in a way that doesn’t weigh you down, so you can move forward with more peace, strength, and confidence.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy approach that helps people heal from difficult or traumatic experiences. When something overwhelming happens, the brain sometimes struggles to fully process it, and the memories can stay “stuck.” That can lead to ongoing distress, like flashbacks, anxiety, or feeling triggered.
EMDR works by gently allowing you to process the memory while also engaging in side-to-side eye movements, sounds, or taps. This helps the brain reprocess what happened, so the memory no longer feels as raw or overwhelming. Over time, the memory becomes less present in your body and less distressing.

If past experiences are still affecting how you feel or function today—whether through anxiety, nightmares, relationship struggles, or feeling “stuck”—trauma therapy may be helpful. You don’t need to have gone through a single major event; ongoing stress or painful experiences can be just as impactful.
